A night that cannot be explained. Obama is the President of the United States and everyone in the place was so happy, including Madonna who forgot the words to Ray of Light and then screamed 'It's because I'm so FUCKING happy right now you guys!!" The energy was incredible, amazing, awesome.

I made a mini-movie of our Journey to Madonna and scoring the most incredible seats ever on the most incredible day ever! Seriously.

Fire Watch Update

The fire pretty much took over the entire San Diego County these past three days. My brother and his family got a reverse 911 call (this is when the sheriff calls the neighborhood and tells them to evacuate..) had to evacuate his home on Monday night and stay with us but thankfully, they were cleared to go back yesterday afternoon. Their house and surrounding neighborhood were fine. My friend Jenessa and her family stayed with her mother and waited the fire out. I don't know if she was able to go back to her house or not, but I'm sure I"ll hear from her soon.
As for us, on Tuesday morning I started to pack because the winds were not working in our favor and had two fires headed right for us. Thankfully it never reached our area and we didn't get the dreaded reverse 911 call.
But it was close, as you can see from this fire map. Oceanside is on the upper left hand corner, we were kind of in between two fires but far enough away that we just missed being evacuated.

That being said I have to say San Diego has handled the entire disaster and evacuations smoothly and efficiently. Entire neighborhoods were evacuated with no hassles, people were informed minute to minute about where to go, who to call, resources the could use. The community came out and supported everyone, in fact they had so many donations to the evacuation centers that they actually had to tell people to stop and that they had enough. There was an abundance of volunteers, supports groups, you name it, they came out and stepped it up and made the best out of the whole situation. In fact, the hotels in the area provided free hotel rooms for those that had to be evacuated. Needless to say those hotels filled up fast. For being a big city, San Diego still has a little bit of small town mentality which is why I love love San Diego. (Honestly, you don't see this kind of support or camaraderie in Los Angeles, but I think that is because L.A. is so huge and spread out).

Anyways, everyone is fine, we THINK the boat is okay, but we haven't heard anything just yet. Thank you guys for your well wishes and like I said before, hopefully the Santa Ana winds and the heat will ease up in the next few days and everything will be back to normal again by the weekend!

Taste Like Burning

So southern California is basically up in flames right now. I know there are fires up in Malibu and the picture I posted is right by my friend Jenessa's house. Last I heard from Jenessa they hadn't been evacuated yet however they had already packed their car and were ready to go at a moments notice. Over here in the San Diego area, I don't even know where it's NOT burning..my brother is fairly close to one of the wildfires but thankfully, they haven't been evacuated just yet.

We are not really in any danger but our boat is stored in an open area up on a hill where the fires are. I know, I know, it's just a boat however, we're not the Rockefellers, that boat is a big investment for us so it would be sad to see it go up in smoke. (we have insurance on it but still, I don't know what the stipulations are as far as fire damage goes and if the boat is not on our property, blah blah blah). Thankfully we have friends nearby who called and said they would tow it out of there for us.

The sky looks orange red from all the fires around us. Some parts of San Diego was so overtaken by smoke it looked like it was 6pm at noon. This is the second time that the fire here in San Diego county has gotten this bad. Last time was in 2003, when I was pregnant with the munchkin. There was literally ash raining from the sky it was so bad. I see some ash around today but we're far enough from both areas where the smoke hasn't really affected us too bad.
There's no end in sight it seems because the Santa Ana winds (dry and gusty, winds at about 20 mph...seriously my lips are chapped and my skin could suck up an entire lake it's so dry right now) are suppose to keep blowing for two more days.

Munchkin's school is closed tomorrow because her school is located up in the hills with a lot of brush around it. The fire isn't suppose to come near there but the kids can't even play outside the air is soo smoky there.

So hope for the best and hope that the fire skips out my brother's home and Jenessa's house and gets put out sooner than possible. Also, let's all ask Mrs. Santa Ana winds to please put a cork in it and move it along already. You're really not helping matters much biotch.
